Collaborative Ministry

At the September 2012 Synods of the Districts in the East Central Region a CD was distributed which took time to look at Collaborative Ministry.  Although some time has passed since then the material is still very much a useful set of resources.

It was developed on the request of the Midlands Methodist Training Forum and is designed to be a learning tool, to help Circuit Leadership Teams (CLTs) explore the subject of Collaborative Ministry.

Speakers on the programme are

Jane Bingham - East Midlands LDO

Revd Helen Cameron - Co-Director of the Centre for Ministerial Formation at the Queens Foundation

Revd Loraine Mellor - Chair of the Nottingham and Derby District

The learning tool concentrates on the theology of Collaborative Ministry, the practicalities of working in a Collaborative Ministry team and some exercises to try out in your local churches and circuits to help you through the process of beginning to work this way.

This material is now available electronically through the web at

under the marketplace section for useful resources.

The sections available to view are

  • Introduction
  • The Theology of Collaborative Ministry
  • The practical application
  • Exercise 1
  • Exercise2
  • Exercise 3
  • Exercise 4
  • Closing Thoughts

You may feel that looking at the material in small sections is the best approach – even viewing the theological materials in bite size chunks – to aid discussion and thinking.

We do hope you find the materials useful and in due course some supporting ideas on how best to mix and match its content for different settings will become available.
